LGV Category ‘C+E’ / HGV ‘Class 1’

In the United Kingdom, LGV Category C+E and HGV Class 1 refer to the same license category. They both indicate the license required to drive articulated or articulated combination vehicles.

This license allows drivers to operate a combination of a Category C (or HGV Class 2) vehicle (rigid commercial vehicle over 3,500 kilograms) with a trailer exceeding 750 kilograms. The Category C+E (or HGV Class 1) license is obtained by passing a specific driving test that assesses the driver’s ability to handle these larger and more complex vehicles.
